Bing Webmaster Guidelines
Bing Webmaster Guidelines has been publicly available for some time now and looking at my search engine statistics I’ve noticed that i’m getting a lot of Google traffic but my Bing traffic is very very low.
That’s probably because Google has published their guidelines a long time ago and every SEO plugin, tip and optimization we are doing is to satisfy Google. It is time to make some modification and increase our Bing ranking.
Even though the guidelines given are not so clear as Google’s as it was just a beginning, we can hope that they will keep them updated and we can hopefully work a bit to make our websites more Bing friendly.
Also bing said that “changes should be infrequent”. That means we can get some more clear info sooner or later check this statement…
Changes should be infrequent as these current Webmaster Guidelines cover most major topics. They are not exhaustive and you should not expect to find deep, technical answers in them. They are intended to help most business owners understand the broad strokes of search marketing.
With the more frequent changes and updates that Google is making, depending only on one search engine is not a good idea and i think is’s very good to make our pages Bing friendly since Microsoft is investing a lot and challenged Google in the search engine market.
You can also look at this SEOmoz Witeboard Friday video with Bing’s very own Duane Forrester who is walking us through the Bing Webmaster Tools.
As i wrote before Microsoft is investing a lot in Bing and I think it’s a good idea to read the Bing Webmaster Guidelines and optimize your website for extra traffic from Bing.
I think that for advanced users the guide’s is a bit low on content, but for beginners it could be very useful.
